Thanks to all reports on my last post I realised that I had forgotten to include some assets in the custom package. This new package fixes the problem. here is the file, be aware that I’m in a bad connection place, and the file is slowly uploading. So keep on checking back and see when it is ready.
ciao

Marco;
Download the new patch and everything that I have tried so far is working great. No crash in settings and options.
Great job!!

The second download of file go best then the first (corrupted).
QGIS is again running on my tablet. Many thanks.
More test in advance.

In ma tablet with Android 4.0 in this version there is no way to move program to SD card. In earlier versions there is no this problem. I do not know, if this is only on my tablet?
Patrick · 2012-11-30 at 19:16
I downloaded this version last night and it went very smoothly. I am getting several messages about not being able to find / load libraries (libqgispython.so and libgeorefplugin.so). I expect it is just a matter of finding these files and placing them in the right directories. I am also getting 4 messages about Codec System not found.
None of these messages cause Qgis to give up and / or fail.
One last observation is when I try to change the style of a layer, the style tab has a note that “This renderer doesn’t implement a graphical interface.
marco · 2012-12-02 at 22:48
all known and documented problems. python is not supported yet. for the simbology, just use the old simbology. thanks
Patrick · 2012-12-03 at 12:41
The old symbology? Could you elaborate further? I am building a new map on the tablet, there is no symbology beyond what the system chooses when you add a layer.
I guess I could build a project on my desktop and then transfer the project and data to the tablet.
I apologize for posting issues already discussed, I did not see these subjects in this thread yet.
marco · 2012-12-03 at 12:50
just press the old symbology button in the layer property and use that

marco · 2012-12-17 at 20:59
mmm I just rechecked and it works for me. did you try reinstalling?
Ludo · 2013-01-14 at 07:59
Yes, I did, I will try again.
Ludo · 2013-01-14 at 08:23
It don’t works for me, in the “Coordinate reference systems of the word” list, there are “Geographic Cordinate Systems”, “Projected Coordinate Systems” and “User Defined Coordinate Systems” but no sub-list.
Do you think I should ununstall – reinstall QT…?
Ludo · 2013-01-14 at 08:33
It works!
I download again the apk file “qgis-bug304240-workaround.apk” and reinstall it and it work. mine should be corrupted? No idea.
Thank you for your help.

I want to compile the QGIS for android on a windows XP OS.Am a newbie and am not able to understand the readme file at https://github.com/qgis/qgis-android .Please can anyone send me a detailed step by step procedure in layman’s language,
Cheers,
Christina
marco · 2013-01-14 at 10:11
Hi Christina, Building QGIS for android, is no trivial task, building in windows even less (I think since I’ve no windows machine) since you will have to convert all the scripts to work. maybe using cygwin could help.
In linux what you do is get necessitas, clone the git repo and run ./scripts/build-all.sh
I’m not planing on supporting building on windows since I’ve no expertise and I’m already too busy trying to get the linux build up and running. If you are planing to help develop qis for android, maybe a virtual machine with linux could be nice or maybe a dual boot?
Anyhow, let me know if you get it working on windows.

I am using Samsung Note 2 and can’t find the way to browse files on memory card. Other apps are able to open files in memory card folder which is called extSdCard.
I have noted that the screen rotation causes the QGIS to crash often. The use of the gps also causes the problem described in bug #6037.
Otherwise QGIS seems to be working suprisingly well in this mobile.
marco · 2013-01-14 at 11:07
don’t you have a link to storage when you open the files dialog?
Juha · 2013-01-14 at 19:23
There is link to storage but the folders of the memory card are not present. Only the folders of the internal memory (sdcard0) are visible.

I installed the version linked in this post, and it works great, but Pinch Zooming seems not working anymore.
Will be repaired in next version?
Thanks

I installed it today on HTC and it worked fine.. Loading shapefile gave error initially, i feel it might be due to relatively smaller screen size of HTC. Now I am shifting it to Tab. I hope it will work there as well. I am excited and greatly appreciate this superb work…
Ludo · 2013-02-14 at 15:17
Hi Marco,
Thanks for all your job and your help, this month or next I’ll try to take time and secured access to donate a little money for support you (don’t want to make it on my tablet).
I use qgis on my tablet evry week and have few problems. Fisrt, I should bye a “stilet” because it’s very difficult to check / uncheck boxes in the layer panel. I know it’s a project to make a special gui for phone.
The real problem is that application crash regularly, mainly when gps is on, more I think when a layer is in editable mode. Do you think it can come of my data : 2,5 Go raster, tens of layers (all in same CRS because application crash when on the fly projection is activated whis gps)? He’s somebody have this problem?
Ciao
Ps: sorry for my english…

Hi,
I think you are busy at time because there is a moment you dont answered in this post. While waiting for I’m surching an issu.
I looked for this error in google. The only thing I could understand is that it could be due to my android version 3.2? What do you think of that?
I think it could because nobody complains about crash. I’ll try to upgrade my OS, if it’s possible…
Bye
Ludo · 2013-02-16 at 21:49
Ok, one hour of searching and I hope it’s not because of my android version… There is no update for my galaxy tab 8.9 3g for the moment… I’m looking for your expertise B-)
Ludo · 2013-02-21 at 20:34
Peraps should i copy more logs before the crash. It could be interesting. There is a lot of line “geopositioninfo” and “valid geoposition info”, arrive ” satellitesInUseUpdated” and ” satellitesInViewUpdated” and bug! It’s always the same.
