7, my luck number… So here you are, the latest and greatest QGIS for Android.
This release includes the super new pinch zoom tool, should have no blocking dialogs anymore (i fixed the attribute table) and the help->about shows now from which commit the package has been created.
The packages containing armeabi and armeabi-v7a code are still less stable that the armeabi only packages (the ones with the -armeabi suffix) which are still the preferred. For the moment the release packages are built with Debug symbols as well.
I hope you will enjoy this release, and remember that if you or anybody you know can help sponsor the development I would greatly appreciate it.
Btw, noticed the nice new yellow PayPal donate button ;)?
Ciao Marco

Very Neat.
OK, now I understand why all the effort is directed this way. The Androids are here.
Congrats on your success!

Thx, I’m just curious how do you mean *all* the effort? 🙂

Marco · 2012-03-07 at 15:45

Ciao

I am getting error “Your application encountered a fatal error and cannot continue” on Samsung galaxy tab 10.1v with Android 3.0.1
On the first run qgis ask to download ministro II.
Next when I run qgis, when ministro finish downloading libs, error appears. On Samsung galaxy S2 everything works fine. What seems to be problem?

On Which version? Try installing alogcat and read the errir logs. What do they say? Ciao

I am pretty much interested in this android version of QGIS, unfortunately I couldnt find a link where I can download it.

maxion · 2012-03-16 at 12:40

Hi marco,
i am really into qgis on android, and i am using it for research in the moment. The only problem is, that the program breaks down quite often, especially when GPS is turned on. Do you know why ? is there anything i can do to improve stability? How was FOSSGIS Conference?

    marco · 2012-03-16 at 13:41

Hi, looking into stability. Its all alpha still 🙂 which version are you running? FOSSGIS is from tuesday. Did you get my mails about fixing your rendering problem? Ciao

maxion · 2012-03-16 at 22:07

Thanks yes I did, sorry thought I answered. The walls look great now !

maxion · 2012-03-16 at 22:17

I work with nightly armeabi right now, it feels just as stable as alpha7 armeabi. What is difference with armeabi anyway? After alpha6 only armeabi works propably on the asus transformer

maxion · 2012-03-16 at 22:22

And one more interesting thing about the stability- qgis seems to be break down a lot in the morning when i start working and works a bit more stable later on. If gps is of (this is not often the case) there is rarely a breakdown.

Hello,
I am testing QGIS for Android Nightly on a borrowed Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 . Installation goes smoothly and without fuss. it opens quickly and the interface looks gorgeous.
My problem is when I start editing ShapeFiles … Creating them is no issue, when we start editing them, Polygon, Polylines or Points, when drawing the fourth vertex; QGIS would crash.
Did this happen to anyone else?
I am thinking of getting my own Galaxy TAB 10.1 to push the tests further.
Cheers.

maxion · 2012-05-16 at 12:41

never happened with my asus transformer

Ludo · 2012-07-11 at 19:30

Bonjour Marco,
Je reçois enfin ma tablette mais les liens pour installer qgis ne fonctionnent plus!?

Ludo · 2012-07-12 at 08:33

je me suis affole pour rien, cela fonctionne maintenant

Ludo · 2012-07-12 at 09:52

Bonjour Marco,
Y’a t’il moyen d’ouvrir un raster en .ecw?
Merci

Ludo · 2012-11-13 at 12:52

Bonjour Marco,
